  • NEW!  What is Lumberyard’s COVID-19 policy in regard to weddings and events?
    • In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, LUMBERYARD, like all organizations operating in New York State, is obligated to follow NYS laws and regulations, including but not limited to reduced maximum capacity and other social distancing rules.  You and your vendors will similarly be expected to comply with all NYS public health and safety laws and regulations.  In normal circumstances, the full capacity for the Theater/Ballroom is 390 seated (600 standing) and 150 in the Creekside Studio.  Your event will be governed by NYS laws and regulations reducing maximum indoor capacity.  You should plan for a smaller number of guests in accordance with NYS guidelines (available at  https://forward.ny.gov).
  • What is the rental fee?
    • BALLROOM/THEATRE:  Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: $5,625.00 (plus $500-860 COVID cleaning fee); Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday: $7,500.00 (plus $500-860 COVID cleaning fee)
    • CREEKSIDE STUDIO:Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: $3,000.00 (plus $200 COVID cleaning fee; Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday: $4,000.00 (plus $200 COVID cleaning fee)
    • ENTIRE SPACE: Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday: $7,500.00 (plus $1,100 COVID cleaning fee); Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday: $10,000.00 (plus $1,100 COVID cleaning fee)
  • Does the pricing include anything more than just the space?
    • Lumberyard is a “four wall rental”: we provide the space and you are free to create the weddings you always imagined.  There are no limits when it comes to vendors, design, etc.  We provide some staff/crew support for basic set-up.  We can also provide a list of “Tech Specs” upon request.
    • We charge a flat fee for a raw space for up to 16 hours; rates vary according to season/dates.
    • The rental fee also includes the use of our A/V system (mic and speakers) and a basic lighting set up.  We can also discuss using our 160 black theater chairs (for ceremony only), 150 plastic white folding chairs, hi-top “café” style tables, folding tables, and picnic tables.
    • Most importantly, the rental fee includes our super helpful staff to help you navigate vendors and the area, including accommodations. Our staff will also be on-site for your vent to help liaise with your vendors and troubleshoot anything that may come up. We look forward to working with you!
  • How many guests can I have?
    • A wedding at Lumberyard can accommodate up to 600 people, standing; 390 seated. Each space is scalable and also suited to intimate events.
    • COVID-19 update:  Your event will be governed by NYS laws and regulations reducing maximum indoor capacity.  You should plan for a smaller number of guests in accordance with NYS guidelines. 
  • Is there parking onsite?
    • There is ample parking (both parking lots and street parking) within walking distance to Lumberyard.
  • Do you offer vendor services for wedding planning, etc.?
    • All vendors are welcome! We do require, however, that caterers be licensed to serve alcohol.
    • We can provide a list of local and regional vendors.
    • We do not have an on-site wedding planner service.
    • We require for weddings with 50+ guests that you have, at minimum, a “day-of” wedding coordinator to ensure that your day runs smoothly and so that you can enjoy your wedding!
  • Are there hotels nearby?
    • There are many hotels, B&Bs and AirBnBs in the area. We can provide a list of nearby hotels to start your planning. Lumberyard also has on-site accommodation for up to 23 and this can be rented alongside the Theater/Ballroom for a weekend takeover.
  • Can I book Lumberyard for an entire weekend?
    • Yes! We have multiple spaces for hosting rehearsal dinners, welcome cocktails, farewell brunches, etc.
  • I’m having a religious ceremony first. How do guests get from there to Lumberyard?
    • Quite a few churches, synagogues, and temples are within walking distance. We can provide a list that notes their proximity to Lumberyard as a starting point.
  • Is there a curfew for noise?
    • The Village of Catskill’s ordinance for outdoor noise is 10pm. Lumberyard’s Theater/Ballroom is soundproof, so an event in this space will not be affected by this rule.
  • Is the venue handicap accessible?
    • Yes, Lumberyard is ADA-accessible.
  • What is your alcohol policy?
    • Lumberyard is not a licensed facility. You will need to work with a licensed caterer. More good news: there is no corkage fee!
  • What is your payment and cancellation policy?
    • A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of signing the contract. The balance of 50% is due thirty (30) days before the event.
  • Would there ever be another wedding or event scheduled on the same day as my wedding?
    • Depending on scheduling and season, it is possible that there will be another event, either an artistic performance or a private event, at Lumberyard on the same day.
  • Do you have onsite restrooms for both spaces?
    • The Theater/Ballroom building has multiple restrooms for all genders and is ADA-compliant. The Creekside Studio has one ADA-compliant restroom; we can also provide vendor contact information to rent portable restrooms to supplement this.
  • Does Lumberyard have A/C and heat?
    • Yes, the Theater/Ballroom has A/C and heat. The Creekside Studio does not, but it can be piped in (and we can recommend a vendor to do this for you).
  • What do I need in terms of insurance?
    • Each vendor must provide a certificate of insurance, and we can provide a sample upon request. If you work with an event planner, he/she can assist with this process.
  • Can my pet attend my wedding?
    • Lumberyard is dog-friendly. We can’t wait to see your Best Pup on Instagram!
  • Can you recommend local activities for our guests?
    • In addition to phenomenal antiquing and great restaurants, there are wonderful historic homes to visit including Olana and The Thomas Cole House. Nature lovers will delight in the local hiking and biking options and there is a fun ferry that connects the charming towns of Athens and Hudson on summer weekends. Guests who enjoy live music will be in heaven.  Yoga and pilates devotees will be pleased by the range of options in the area.
  • Are there nearby locations for bridal photography?
    • Yes! Our creekside location makes the perfect natural setting for portraits on your big day.  And of course the entire Hudson Valley is spectacularly beautiful.  A few options include: Thomas Cole House (for a nominal fee) and Olana (across the River). Catskill’s Main St is also very picturesque as is the Bridge right next door to Lumberyard. For the more interpid, Poet’s Walk and Bard College campus are beautiful.  Claremont Estate and the Hudson Amtrak Station are very charming, too!
